Short Lead times achieved by Project Management - Aug 2004

BSP were asked to reverse engineer an obsolete gas valve for a pneumatic equipment supplier whose customer was just about to run out of the valves. The original valve was stripped down and drawn up with some modifications to ease manufacturing and reduce costs. The modifications also made final assembly easier.

The valve body was manufactured from round bar using multi axis technology, which turned, milled, drilled and put an internal keyway into the body in one set up.

Full manufacture and assembly drawings were produced for customer approval, which took just 5 days and the first fully assembled & tested valves were delivered within 3 weeks. The valves are now called off in batches of 100.
